Battery Swap?
« on: February 27, 2012, 06:21:35 PM »
I have a 1979 CB650 I am trying to get running... and I also have a 1982 CB900 I'm parting out. Can I use the battery from the CB900 in the CB650?

I tried it already, and my 30amp fuse blew.  Is it because of the cb900 battery or should I be looking elsewhere?  Thanks!

I always feel sheepish asking electrical problems, because I'm 100% dependent (but always trying to learn more). Too many things like volts, amps, ohms, etc.

You could use the battery from a semi-truck. It might not fit, though.  ;) Just make sure that the + battery terminal is connected to the + lead on the bike, and the - battery terminal is connected to the - lead (frame ground) on the bike.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Wow... yeah... the terminals are swapped between the batteries. I'm lame.

Now I need research electrical troubleshooting... because there's still something wrong. I may be back with more questions :)
