AMXsteve,   parakeet yellow was a standard color the three years the 400f was produced.  I think it may have been the  least popular is why you haven't seen one.   Do you own an AMX?  They were one of the coolest cars ever produced...Larry

apology for the thread hijack.  All 77 USA models had the forward footpegs, higher bars and flush tank.  The earlier 75 and 76 models did not sell as well as Honda expected so they made the bike more of a "normal" riding position. Or, cafe models were not popular at the time....Larry

Looking great man!
I've always liked the 400F.

Just in case you want to upgrade the brakes:

Thought about taking that rear fender off?  Or shortening it maybe???  It does present a license plate problem, but that can be fixed.

Sure...

but italian laws do not permit it... the license plate have to be mounted under the rearlight and must be located as far as possible from the seat, behind it...

i want to use my open exhaust, not road legal, so the rest of the bike should not caught the attention of policemen :P

I shortened mine, then took it off , and now I put it on my 500. you can easily make a mount to put iy to the rear.
