I reckon my non-turbo 836 would come close to 150 on the road, it'll do 120 in third gear @ 11000 RPM, but I've never found a (cop free) road longer than that to explore it's "outer limits". 207 is pretty impressive though Sammy! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Have you had that bike on a dyno?  Is it over or under 110hp?

No mate, a dyno run here costs around 300 bucks per session (well that's what it cost me to dyno my Rocket III) but I reckon my 836 would be around the 80 BHP mark. Why would it need to be over 110 BHP? Cheers, Terry. ;D

The 80hp bikes I've ridden were good for about 125mph naked or a bit over 130 fully faired (crank hp, GPS speed #'s).  The 165mph bikes I've ridden have about 120hp at the crank and are fully faired.  I would think you'd want ~100hp at the wheel to get a naked bike to 150+, but if you're adventurous like Rollie Free and the conditions are just right, it can obviously be done with less. :)

You guys are nucking futs.
I've been over 190mph (generous speedo) on an older R1 (140hp?). I can't imagine how scary it must be anywhere near that speed on these old naked bikes.  :o

I went to a church group with a gf once and somehow driving/riding 100mph came up and they were all dumbfounded anyone would go that fast. That was top of 2nd on my new 00 R1 at the time. I opted to keep my mouth shut.  :-X

speedo was a digital  pushbike one calibrated for the bike wheel size ., gearing for 11000 rpm worked out correctly for speed . i was suprised too lol , the intercooler was rd hot on inlet ,and luke warm on outlet ,so i think it was a bit outside it comprrssor map .
just do it .

I'm going to court tomorrow to fight a speed camera fine Mick, I reckon if I told the magistrate that I was riding my CX500 he'd throw the case out of court! ;D

Well, I don't mind all this top speed talk, because I'm pretty much convinced this bike (yea, back to my bike now ;) ) was/is capable of that 175.813mph record...which still stands for its class :o

APS-BF    Steve Alexander    Honda    08/79    175.813

http://www.scta-bni.org/Bonneville/BNI_records.htm

I wonder if the stretched swing/custom swing arm was enough to push it out of the 'production' class??
