Scalable Honda Font & Logo
« on: April 24, 2007, 06:26:59 AM »
I did a quick search but didn't find a reference for this font, so I thought it might make a good tip.  A kind soul has created a font set based on the Honda logo:

Honda Font Download  (Scroll down just a bit for the download.)

It includes the wing logo, and the good thing about a font is that it scales well.  If you use a normal graphic off of the web, the picture won't scale well, especially when you try to make it larger.  You could use this font to make emblems for your bike, or other cool stuff like T-shirts.

Here's the full character set (lower case letters are not included), and at the bottom is a logo that took me only a couple of minutes to make.

For those of you unfamiliar with installing fonts, it's fairly easy:
1) Download the file
2) Unzip the file
3) Select any files with a .ttf or TTF extension (the part of the file name past the dot)
4) Copy the file(s) to your Windows font directory, which can be most often found either in
  c:\Windows\Fonts  or  c:\WINNT\fonts

These designs would have to be vector based to be scaleable.
So they would need to be in Adobe illustrator,Freehand, or a page layout program.

NOT PIXELS

By "NOT PIXELS" I assume you mean that the images are not bitmap or raster images.
Yes, they are eps (encapsulated postscript) which is a more "portable" (compatible) version of vector graphics.

Because they are eps files they will work in most any word processing program such a Word, Open Office, etc as well as graphics programs.

My current tank decals are the white wings... I remember we had a link for where to buy the real thing.  Anyone remember?  By real thing, I mean UV resistant.  I have stickers from a member of this forum, but they're too fragile for a fuel tank.

I drew up the classic logo as a solid shape instead of the compounds in the original honda club logo. EPS is here if you still need it: http://ge.tt/6R4naRF/v/0?c (available for 30 days).

Tried routing it on the cnc on a piece of mdf I had lying around. Pretty cool. Think I'm going to cnc a piece of alu and use it as a tank badge :)
