Any experienced painters?
« on: February 29, 2012, 03:52:58 PM »
I was looking at house of color paints, I'm not sure I want to tackle a true candy but they have a candy product that is a basecoat/clearcoat system. Wondered if anyone had used them and how close to Honda colors anyone was able to get.  I could get brave and try it. The  race car I painted turned out OK. The HOC manual was confusing but we muddled through it.

There is a company Colorite that specializes in bike paints.   With a candy or pearl you have to get the over lap correct on the mid coat.  I paint cars all day at a body shop, shoot me your # if you want to talk. I dont get on line very often.

That was why I was talking brave, I didn't explain well. The color is all in the basecoat so I'm thinking an amateur like me might have a chance. Especially if I epoxy prime then use their silver colored sealer. It is urethane too.
I have a vision of regular candy being dark/light if you miss on the coat thickness.
