Ebay warning
« on: March 01, 2012, 09:41:05 AM »
Many parts now being sold on Ebay are directly from Hong Kong and you have to wait about one month or more for delivery!!!  Watch out!!!

I've purchased a few things from Hong Kong, they were all knock offs.
The two I can think of were an A Perfect Circle CD and a windscreen similar to a Zero Gravity but half the price.
Both came within days.

I used to order batteries from Hong Kong off Ebay regularly.  They showed up really quick.

All ebay auctions have a notation of where the item is.  That is one of the things of Ebay, if it says Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, or who knows where else, it may well take forever to get.  And the chances of it being a scam are far greater.  Not to mention, what if it arrives damaged or incorrect?  It isn't a matter of calling someone up and saying "Hey this isn't right".  That is the risk anyone takes buying stuff from overseas on Ebay.

Oh, i remember the other thing... it was a set of kitty nail caps (to keep kitties from being SHARP without declawing them)

They sucked because they were knock offs, they gave me all my money back including shipping, gave me a positive, I gave them a positive, and we were done.  I am a firm believer that most of the world is comprised of good people.  That still doesn't mean I like people though.   ;D

I bought stuff stuff from US sellers that took forever to get to me. What's the dif? That's the biggest issue with buying online, period. Not really a PSA here.

got my airbox to carb  boots from the Kenosa kid guy in Germany in about one day longer than a package from across the state would take.

Exactly.  Do a little research on the seller before you buy.  Same as it's always been with ebay.  I've bought many items, bike and non-bike related that came from across the Pacific, and I've never had a problem with any of the transactions, because I did my homework first and didn't take a chance on abnormally cheap items from untested sellers.

I will pay more for stuff from US sellers than buy from overseas.  Only time I buy overseas is if it's the only place I can find something.  Example is my 650C choke cable (Ireland).

You would probably be shocked where the OEM Honda parts and the David Silver pattern parts come from. A lot of your "knock offs" are really Gray Market.

What bothers me is many times the SAME item is being sold by different sellers
all from Hong Kong, and the page is flooded by this one item.

I think the only one that mentioned knock offs is me... in all instances, each knock off I spoke of was a cheap imitation of the brand name version.

= knock off

the shipping isn't usually the problem with hong kong stuff, thats what I'm getting at

I think the real warning here should be wary of buying NOS parts. There sure seems to be an increased amount on eBay latety and I have a feeling that they are not true NOS parts.
