Pictures of SOHC scene back in the 70's and 80's
« on: March 01, 2012, 01:04:15 PM »
Starting a thread showing photos I found on the internet of riders having a good time on their SOHC back in the 70's and 80's.  Back when these machines were everywhere and revolutionized the motorcycle industry.  Looking for any photos of what it was like back in the day.  Racing, chopper, cafe, touring, trikes etc.  I'm trying to get a sense of what it was like back in the day. Anything from the Internet is fine - they don't have to be yours or pictures of you.  I'll start with some old photos I found on the internet

I've posted this before in another thread. The year was more than likely 1971 and this is a picture I took of a 1970 750KO parked in front of Smith Honda in Greensboro NC. My 1970 CT70, 1971 SL175, and 1974 CB360 were bought here. Forty years later I took this pic of my KO parked in front of the same building and parking space, but instead of a motorcycle dealer it's now a video store.

Here is a pic of my 1977 CB750K taken just after I bought it new. Yes, short shorts were very "in" back in those days. And that girl became my wife 2 years later.

Here's a couple pictures of some trips my buddies and I took back in the seventies. The pictures are scans of old slides and are not the best quality. This first one is of my '72 CB500, with my new turbo kit installed, two friend's Kawasaki 900's and a CB750k? of another friend.

This picture was of a trip we took to Yosemite about 1979 I believe. Some guys were base jumping off of El Capitan and landing right by our campsite. Our bikes are in the background.

This is a little better shot of our bikes. Just stopped by the side of the road still in Yosemite Park. I held on to the turbo kit all these years and I wish I had kept the Lester wheels that I had on this '76 CB550F.

My 75 CB550.  My daughter and I going to Grandma's house.  Only a couple of blocks away.  Grandma was not very happy, daughter did not want to get off the bike.

Starting a thread showing pictures of riders I found on the internet having a good time on their SOHC back in the 70's and 80's.  Back when these machines were everywhere and revolutionized the motorcycle industry.  Looking for anything showing how people used these bikes back in the day.  Racing, chopper, cafe, touring, trikes etc.  Anything from the Internet is fine - doesn't have to be a picture of you.  I'll start with some old photos I found on the internet.

I love it!  I do the same thing but it's sorta in reverse. We hoist the bike out of the basement via a cellar door with harnesses and a rig setup over the door. Quite the production. And a bit nerve wracking. But nothing like that. Wow!
