Tugboat,

Yes, that's a distributor you spotted on the engine. The valve cover was sleeved to hold the shaft which was pinned to the camshaft. It worked very well. I decided to not use it after a while because I just couldn't stop
gripping about what would happen if the bike fell over.

Being a somewhat young guy this is slightly depressing. I can see that in just a few years I'll be looking back at pics of me and my brothers / friends and how cool and young we were then. The only problem.... The bikes we ride now will never stand the test of time as did these Honda's. These bikes will always be cool no matter what anyone says or thinks. I think somewhere in there I made a worthwhile point. These are great pictures! Keep em coming!

Could that be why Honda decided to discontinue the sweet SOHC? I thought this myself. It is as though they understood the great engineering and quality craftsmanship that went into these machines. Like they knew they wouldn't be in business very long because the quality of the bike was going to outlast almost any other bike for the price. I guess you can only build perfection once.
Lol yes and more importantly recently they went back to a "unicam" design as they call it.

This was a trip up Highway 1 to Laguna Seca in 1980 (I think) for the AMA races. We camped one night on the way up and another night at the track. This picture was our breakfast stop at San Simeon.

This picture is of the track as it used to be in 1980. Very different layout then. There were no pit buildings back then either. The first time I ever went around this track was 1964. I did it in full field gear and carrying an M14. It was part of a 20 mile hike in basic training. Laguna Seca is located on Fort Ord where I took basic.

Ah, the things you used to see in the parking lot!

I've GOT to get a slide scanner. I've got a bunch of pics from the Laguna Seca super-bike race in '79. Rode up there on Hwy 1 from SLO.

One of the few, and I do mean few, decent things to happen to me in the army. I was drafted late in the year in New York (November). Basic was looking like either Fort Dix, or Polk. At the last minute, it was determined that both were at capacity. Our alternative was Fort Ord, a much better place to spend winter  ;), even with a DI constantly screaming at us not to step on his ice plants.  ;)

I have one of these.

Totally exceeded my expectations for scanning slides and negatives!

Accolay

Fairing is a new Wixom, Without mounting brackets or wind screen $150 is kind of steep. I have a faring with a scrape on one side the will need minor repair, and have the mounting brackets. No cracks in fiberglass. I also have a Scratch fee New Old Stock 21" windsheild. I could let it go for $175 plus shipping.

Those are not Daisy Dukes, they are just plain old cutoffs... dont know about you guys in the Northern states, but up here our summers are hot.. and everyone used to wear short cutoffs.. I remember one summer a beach bum on a 750 Four rode 40 miles back to our town with me, when we got here, I gave him a pair of shoes.. he didnt have any...
