Hi everybody, i am the new owner of a 1975 cb550f. Its in decent condition. ran when i bought it though the battery is dead now.
My biggest problem though is the rear brake. After i bought it and brought it home i wanted to ride it. So im pulling out of my driveway which is downhill so i start braking a little and feel this weird resistance then hear a very unpleasant sound. i look down and see that the rear brake rod which is connected to the pivot attached to the brake pedal snapped off because the PO had forgotten to put a nut on the rear brake stopper arm when reassembling the bike
also my parts manual is a little blurry, can anyone clarify that the hex nut size is 9mm?
as a result the rear brake rod looks like this
and the rear brake arm looks like this
i have since ordered a new brake pivot and rear brake rod but im wondering if its possible to fix the rear brake arm without making it weaker. or if i should, if i can find one, buy a used one. any help is appreciated. Thanks
