73 cl350 electric starter noise
« on: March 03, 2012, 02:40:12 PM »
Starting my bike when it's cold the I'm hearing a noise coming from the front of the bike, it's as if the starter is still trying to start the bike even though it's already running only does it when it's cold?

I think the starter clutch may be sticking a little when it's cold,I have a 72' CB350 twin that does exactly the same thing;how many miles on it ?

Mine has low miles like that also w/ exactly the same symptoms...I believe once it wears the starter clutch a little more it'll be fine;the cold weather contracts the metal & it fit's tighter. I usually baby my engine w/ a feather on the throttle when it's cold...maybe I'll try increasing the speed sharply when it makes the noise to see if it will disengage the starter clutch sooner.Do you run the bike a few times a week, or does it only get used once in a while ? The more I use mine regularly, it makes the noise less...more use will "wear it in" I think.

Well right now it's in storage, I just started it up the other day to get it ready to sell. The more use the better like you said.
