« on: March 03, 2012, 05:45:11 PM »
This is my first motorcycle ever.. and have gotten abit fascinated by the cafe racers so why not make one?
these are the mods i have done so far:
99-07 hayabusa front forks with clipon handlebars
99-07 hayabusa left 6pot caliper and disc
08 gsxr vortex adjustable rearset
yamaha r6 fuel tank cap
knee dents in tank
made a new seat
+++
and alot more to come, hope to be finished before summer :)

how it looked the first day i got it

started disassembly right away

removing the ugly :P

testing out for "the look" hehe

dont like the yellow  :o

just testing to see how it would look with a cafe rear

abit cooler then stock

tank knee dented

knee dented

ready for some lead work on the side to fill the place where the honda badge was

hayabusa forks!

r6 gas cap

making a new triple tree stem

forks on!

checking with wheel and disc

starting to get somewhere

Nice! How did you go about fitting the spoke wheel on the larger axle? I'm considering a similar swap.

Two questions:
1.) What are your plans for gauges?

2.) Do you have any clearance issues with the 'Bussa/CB Hybrid front end? I would love to get some more info on that set-up.

I have ordered a acewell speedo/tachometer that will be integrated in the upper triple tree :)

The hayabusa front end fits very good on the cb, only thing we did was to modify the steering stem so that it fitted the lower triple tree :)

Your not wasting time. Have you thought about a box swingarm? The stock ones are a bit flexy.

have been thinking about it, but its not in my budget for this year since im taking my license aswell and that costs about 3000 dollar. so maybe next year i will get a boxed swingarm and a little more horespower in the engine

Nice build!  I can see you're really talented.

I'm in the process of swapping a hayabusa fork as well and I was hoping you could answer  2 questions I have.

1.  Did you grind off the upper headtube stopper (if that's what it's called) from the cb750 frame or did you grind the one from the hayabusa upper triple clamp?
2.  If you did, what is stopping the handlebars/clip ons from turning and hitting the tank.

here is a picture below of my confusion.  I kinda know the answer but just wanted to make sure before I start grinding stuff off.

thanks in advance.

Been awhile since i have done anything with the bike since i started getting problems with my hands last spring.. started loosing the feeling in my fingers :( so i had to go the docter and i had severe carpel tunnel in both my wrists. So i have gone to some operations and havent been able to work on the bike until now :P But now i have taken the engine apart and fixed it up, polished and painted it before reassemble. Here are a couple pics of it almost done

I like the more organic cowling effect over the very geometric headlights. nice juxtapositions of form.

the gas cap wasnt to hard.. bought a dented r6 tank of ebay for about 50 dollars and cut out the part where the filler cap is located and welded it into the cb tank. :D

got some work done this weekend aswell :D its starting to look like a bike again

finally got the engine back in the frame!

started some test assembly

The headlight will be lowered and moved closer to the bike for a tighter look

just had to try the wheels on to see how it will look like

Im gonna change the color of the calipers to black instead as i feel that the bronze on them crash abit with the rest

some more shots of it

and some more... cant wait until spring to try it out

testfitted the speedometer aswell :D

and i am going to remember my real camera tomorrw and take some better pictures :P

Such a shame to do all that work then use those sh1tty rear shocks, you've spent money on everything else. why scrimp on the shocks, especially after putting a cartridge style front end on it....?  Seriously , throw the shocks and buy some good ones... ;)

actually this bike has been buildt on a very tight budget, as bikes and parts are really expensive in norway.. alle the work that has been done on it is done by me and with a little help from a couple frinds. the shocks can be replaced in the future when i have saved up enought cash. And i have just bought a 1967 Camaro ss/rs 350 that im gonne fix up aswell so im a little low on cash :P
