new member and my 1st bike in kings mountain nc
« on: March 03, 2012, 10:24:44 PM »
so i am new to the site and a new bike owner. iam from kings mountain nc. and i have a 1976 cb55k with 6800 miles. the best part of this bike was the fact it was a gift..... local nc bike as it still has a honda of statesville honda sticker on the chain guard, i also found inspection papers from honda of shelby nc  from 1989 and 1990.  i plan to put a slight cafe look to it for the time being and over the winter give it a good go over of some flavor or another.  i ordered some parts from dime city to rebuild the carbs along with some other goodies.

It's good to see another sohc4 guy from NC. Welcome. Im in Greensboro 2 hours or so from you. CB550 is a good bike . I had a 76 CB550 back in the 70's wish I still had it. How about some more detailed pics, but bike looks to be in decent shape. Free and only 6800 miles one heck of a deal ;D. How did you run across it, you said it was a gift. so I guess from somebody you knew?
But that ugly seat as to go ;)

i have slightly tore the bike down to do the carbs and clean/paint things. my wifes grandfather bought this bike some 10 years ago to help out a friend. so for the past four years i have been walking past the storage room on there carport not knowing what was behind the door. last saturday she went to her grandparents for there usual saturday lunch and he had it out so she sent me the pic above. as soon as i saw the pic i was putting my boots on and in hot pursuit to check it out, i flat had to have it one way or another i was buying this. i guess i shocked everyone at how excited i was about this bike. long story short he gave it to me.....

welcome to the forum.  I'm a new member as well, got my first bike last summer.  I grew up in dallas and have family in shelby.  I live just outside raleigh now but have to say the western side is much better.

Welcome, beautiful bike.

That was my first real bike, my first ton, my only ride and twelve points on my license, in the brown color, thirty two years ago.

You make me envious.  Enjoy.

Nice bike...all the more meaningful when kept in the family.  I too spent a few years living in Shelby while working at America's Oldest MC Co. in Kings Mountain.  Now live in Gaston county and continue to live the dream by 'working' on my vintage Honda's.  Please say hello to Rick ( & Sam L.) for me the next time you visit Sandy Run Cycle.   Welcome to the forum...!
