Anyone subscribe to M/C Classics?
« on: June 05, 2006, 07:18:07 AM »
Got mine in the mail Saturday.  It's pretty cool to see this kind of stuff in print.

The guy on the cover looks familiar...keep it up and we'll have a decent motorcycle show on Discovery channel.  They've got a pretty big article on Carpy's bikes and also a good one on a stock 750.

This magazine is a good domestic alternative to "Classic Bike" which costs around $8.00 an issue here in the states if you can find it.

Yep!  Been a subscriber since January.  Not only is it the only magazine I subscribe to, but it's also my favorite! ;D

ARG! SOHCs gone mainstream!

I just can't wait for the Discovery channel show with weekly episodes of Carpy throwing wrenches at his mechanics, welding up giant chrome goody baskets to go on the handlebars, and never actually riding a motorcycle unless the television crew demands the footage. It'll be GREAT!  ::).

I doubt that the sohc 4 will every become "mainstream".  Too many kids are buying the plastic fantastics these days.  They don't appreciate the classics from which their bikes were born.

Just as in fashion, styles come around again and again. It seems to me that our style of bike is once again gaining in popularity regardless of what the manufacturers are putting out. Yes, they flood the market with plastic but there is no replacement for class.

I think the whole retro scene is pretty obviously hitting the bigtime at the moment. Ducati and Triumph come right to mind.

And really, I'm being slightly tongue-in-cheek when I complain about SOHC popularity. I really don't think it's going to amount to much. At the same time, I come from a sport that was absolutely wrecked by popularity and I'd hate to see that happen again.

BTW, I got back from the bookstore (bike is running GREAT!) where I discovered that the newest issue isn't out yet, at least not in my neck of the woods. Can't wait, to tell you the truth.

Yeah, actually our local Barnes&Noble carries every classic bike mag that I'm aware of. They have Motorcycle Classics, Classic Bike, The Classic Motorcycle, Classic Bike Guide, and Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. The only downside is that I usually walk out of there at least $40 lighter.
