72 CB500 - New Master Cylinder, Use Stock Lever?
« on: February 28, 2012, 07:20:29 AM »
I replaced my Master Cylinder (rebuild didn't work). It's been a few weeks and now it has hit me... could I have re-used my stock brake lever? I hope the answer is no, as I no longer have it.

Just undo the 10mm nut and bolt and swap 'em out. Two minute job.

You learn something everyday. I picked up a busted master cylinder for $5 and now have a proper stock lever and an upper brake hose rubber boot cover (which I didn't even realize I was missing). Thanks.

There is definitely more bite when using the lever that came with the replacement master cylinder vs. using the stock lever with the replacement master cylinder. There is a slight difference to the cut of the lever where it meets the piston. Apparently it's enough to create a noticeable braking difference. Sticking with the replacement lever as I don't think there is any internal adjustment.
