Sticky throttle

So, decided to keep the bike. It looks fun.

Took apart the carbs, cleaned the hell out of em. New plugs, starts way better.

Wehn I hooked up the throttle cables, I noticed that when the bottom one (return cable?) is hooked up, the throttle wont back down. When I take it off, it seems to work fine.

Thoughts?

It's binding somewhere.  Check the cable back to the throttle.

Make sure there is a little slack in the cables or they will bind.

it's weird it seems like it only happens when its hooked up in the bottom amd the bracket. Its seema to alide in and out when hookes up just fine

I had the same problem with mine 77 CB550K... I realized after a bit that the push cable was from a F model. I have ordered the correct K model cable and still need to install it...

Might have the same problem... (no tank installed, no bend, just the cable looks a tiny bit shorter on the F model compared to K model)... On the other hand, the pull cable does not fit at all if it is from a F model...

Still sounds like your cables are too tight and binding, they need a little slack to opperate correctly, check your adjustments ;)

On my 650 the adjustment is on the top cable where it attaches to the carb rack, there are 2 nuts on the outer cable so you can adjust the length, the bottom cable just has a flange and a nut that locks it up tight.
