Does any body have a valve tool, or can someone give me an ideal on how to build one or get one?

i know the clymer book says to use the valve adjustment tool, but, really, if you can't find one:
use a ratchet with an extension, loosen the nut,
insert your feeler guage (45 degree ones work best)
adjust your screw accordingly
if you tighten the screw, dont tighten it all the way til the guage is snug
tighten the nut and as the threads clench, the nut will turn the screw the rest of the way (<1/8 turn)
not really the reccomended way to do it, but, after some practice, you get the feel of it and won't need the valve tool

OR

if you have a 12mm (i think) deep well socket and a thin flat head screw driver, you MIGHT be able to grip the socket with a pair of channel locks and fit the screw drver down through the middle of the socket
(which is essentially what the valve tool seems to do (i haven't bought one either)
just make sure to double check your work and be PATIENT, it will take a few tries to get the feel for it

I actually bought a tappet adjustment tool from www.partsnmore.com, and it's the most useless POS I've ever wasted $18 on.  It's only good for the intake valves, and even then it's reach is too short to be of any real use.  The only thing I use it for now is to occasionally hold a nut in place while I use the screw tool, but after that it's all long reach 10mm ratchet & feeler gauge combo with the go/no-go method with a screwdriver mentioned above.

I have to go pick up some gaskets this week at honda and I'll ask if you can still get it.
I use mine all the time it makes it much easier.  Can be done with out though.

as bguerr said, i used a deep socket, held by vise grips, and put a screwdriver through to adjust the screw, it worked fine but a word of adivce: put the screw driver through and place it in the slot before you put the socket on, it save guessing your placment if the socket's on already. good luck!

Bought one at honda year before last.  Works perfect, for either valve.  Can't imagine doing the job without it.

Cost is about 15 bucks.

Don't Hesitate.
