This is true however like it or not one of those skills will be to defend yourself along with the gatherers and hunters from people who don't think like you.
I never said it would be a picnic. If the balloon goes up, anybody in or near dense population centers are going to have big problems. People in less densely populated agricultural areas will have a better chance, I think. You know, the kind of places where everybody knows their neighbor and where people actually grow their own food and are not so dependent on a complex infrastructure to provide basic needs. They tend to be well armed, too. Kind of like Idaho, as it turns out. Don't tell anybody. 
When the cities run out of stuff to rob from the populace. The Bloods, the Crips, the Hell's Angels, The ABCs, MS13s, the remnants of police forces nationwide, and national guard forces who have access to the good toys and have been practicing "people control" for a very long time, will use the same tactics to enslave any community capable of sustenance, be it city, suburban, or remote (eventually).

What has me wondering, is where I can buy a "space suite"? What are it's accommodations? Is it really compact enough to pack on a 550?
