ODD ENGINE PAINT ANOMALLY,CB400F
« on: March 09, 2012, 06:08:39 PM »
I have been working on my 75 400F and noticed an odd thing about the engine paint.
I noticed as it was up on the table that the lower engine half was a differant shade of silver than the rest of the motor.
I assumed that a P.O. had the motor apart at one time and just unentitionally painted it that way,but the as I was scoping out another 400F on EBAY I noticed the same thing, and later on a nice close up picture of a motor.(attachment below) look close at the split in front of the points cover.
Way to many that way to say HONDA didnt do it.What gives?

Honda only painted top case, the base is left bare alloy for better heat dissipation.
You don't notice the differenc when new, but after a few years the lowers are always a lot darker due to heat cycling and oxidation

Is that why the top case is gold tinted?

That exhaust picture is sexy!!
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.
