Topic: Turn signal buzzer location?

 Yup...I'm one of those guys. I actually want to run the turn signal buzzer. Does anyone have a pic or good description of the correct mounting place for the buzzer on a '78 CB550K?

On a 750 there is a bracket with a square hole inside and attached to the fork ear. Do you see anything like that on your 550.Never had a 550 yet.

It should be in the same location as my '75. Look inside the lefthand headlight bracket(as seen from riding position) there should be a bracket with a square hole, this is where the buzzer locates.

74 550 - this is where mine is as well. BTW - I love my buzzer. It sounds a bit anaemic but it's good reminder to turn it off.

For an idea as to how it sounds, picture the most annoying short-duration noise you can think of, then imagine it repeating itself over and over again as you sit in the middle of a sweltering traffic jam. Imagine drivers in neighboring cars starting to stare at you as you sit there with the sweat pouring down your back; and kids start crying and one little girl starts screaming "Momma, Momma! Make it stop!!!... and her mother, already driven half berserk by the din and the heat, turns around to smack the little freak and her foot slips off the brake onto the accelerator, sending her Hummer careening into a utility pole that collapses onto a gasoline truck refilling the tanks at a neighborhood Piggly-Wiggly; with the resulting fireball traveling three city blocks up the sewer system where it ignites and explodes a hidden pocket of natural gas that decimates an entire strip mall and sends a thirteen-story insurance building rocketing 1,473 feet into the sky before crashing back down to earth in the middle of a poodle farm.

Do you really want to risk the carnage just because you can't remember to turn off a simple switch?   

I'm not saying this particular thing will happen to you, but you never know...

This is the main reason most folks just disconnect and toss it. No kidding.

Personally, I'd rather focus on other traffic and the ride's situational awareness, rather than on whether I turned off the turn signal.  I've used it since 1975.
My, Cb700SC doesn't have a turn buzzer and the indicator is not in field of view.  Doesn't self cancel, either.  And yes, I leave that thing on frequently.

I also find irony in those who are annoyed by a buzzing reminder to do the right thing for others, but still think loud exhaust is just wonderful for ALL to hear.

I know to turn mine off whether I can see it or not. I've just turned a corner so therefore I indicated to turn that corner. It comes natural to me to turn off the winkys.

 I have a set of '75 ears in my parts stash and I see the bracket you're talking about. The '78 ears are different. There is no place on them to mount the buzzer.

 Is it really that annoying? Worse than riding around for miles with your blinker on?

You could get an electronic rely with a built-in buzzer, but I'm not sure you would hear it as well with it being under the side cover.

I think Honda did away with it on their own.  Check a fish.

The fish doesn't show the inside of the left fork ear, but the rt side looks like it has a mount in it.

There is on my 78.  I wonder what's holding it in place on my 78 that I provided pictures (above)?

That depends entirely on the amount of distractions.

In the Korean War, fighter pilots reported never hearing the incoming missile lock-on tone warning in their headset among the other radio chatter and cockpit advisory/warning noises.  Of course, they were in the middle of a dogfight at the time.  But, an individual's sensory overload level is different among person's and the activity they are performing.

Of course, the young bucks on this forum are better than that. 

But, when I'm out in traffic dodging individuals that are trying to kill me, I ain't much focused on turning off the friggin' turn signal.

Think you'll remember the turn sig position when your passenger is rubbing your crotch?   Feh!
