New Rocker?
« on: March 08, 2012, 07:45:54 PM »
Do I need to replace this rocker? The first one I looked at, of course.

The mark on the left is through the hardened face, but there doesn't seem to be corresponding wear on the camshaft lobe. The mark on the right is less severe.

The rocker shafts do need replacing, however, due to the well documented wear caused by the hold down bolts.

If it was in my motor I would replace it.  I think it will start eating up the cam lobe. Instead of buying new you can have the old ones welded and reground.  I know Cycle X does it and I think a couple other places do too.

You're supposed to tell me that that means my engine will be operating at peak efficiency and horsepower!

I pretty much knew the answer before I asked. :(

I guess I'll go check all the others.
