Emgo coils...+ and - wires ?
« on: March 09, 2012, 01:26:24 PM »
On the black Emgo replacement coils (such as the ones Z1, etc. sell) is there a positive and negative wire? They are black and yellow, but does it matter which one feeds to the power from the harness and which one goes to the points wire(s)?

If not, it would be easy to "plug and play" with the bullet connectors they come with.

Yes they do, wrong way and they dont lasshownt well. Polarity ought to be in the instructions

Instructions? What's that! All I got was a plastic bag.

I can measure polarity with my multi-meter, right? What am I looking for? (I'm not the best with electrics, but can follow instructions).

Only thing i can suggest is as the dealer you bought them from, I don't know of any tests with a meter to sort it out.

You could check and see if either of the wires has a connection to either the HT circuit or the laminated steel mountings?

PS don't know what was wrong with my dyslexic keyboard but i was trying to say that if wired wrong they dont last very well

There's no polarity and no difference which way you wire it.

That was my understanding as well. Though I'm not the one to confirm this.
