a few cb750 tuning questions?
« on: March 11, 2012, 08:13:44 AM »
its about that time to go riding and i want to make sure my 750 is in tip top shape. i built it over the summer but didnt finish the motor and everything till winter started setting in. i slightly tuned it over winter but i didnt want to fully tune it till i got my intake from TT and till the temp goes up because i knew i would have to tune it again. anyways i need to do the timing and sync the carbs and i was wondering which i should do first? as far as timing i read somewhere that i should make sure the marks are correct and tdc = tdc on the advancer thing. if so what is the best way to do it while the motor is in the bike? also i read somewhere that it is best to set the gap with a dwell meter and i cant say i have ever even seen one let alone used one before so is it better? if so are their any guides to using one on these cb750's? last time i adjusted the timing i did a static timing with my mulit meter in the ohm setting. any help would be greatly appreciated

Most guys sync carbs last. I would start with all new parts, plugs, points, condensers and plug caps.
Search for 3000 mile tune up....
