case sealent ? (too much?) With Pictures
« on: March 13, 2012, 03:05:14 PM »
Put the case together on my 750 K6. Used Yamabond #4, what I thought was very thin. I had some oozing around the exterior and what I can see of the interior. Here's a picture by the points area. It looks very similar looking thru the cylinder holes.
Is this acceptable or do I need to redo it?
Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve.  Just one guys opinion on a very little picture but it does not seem to be oozing to bad there. The problem areas are inside the case where the action is and if its a heavy silicone type of content that can break off and begin to 'float' through the lube channels that could possibly block your top end jets then there may be a problem.
Tell us where you put the sealant on the interior and how much and then we can worry but other than that you may be worrying to much.     Eric

imho, that looks about normal. No matter how thin you apply it you will get some oozing.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

Just got back to the house, Mrs Tree and I have been bicycling around Austin checking out the beginnings of the music conference. Don't know how much I'll get done in the next 4 days.

Took a couple more pics looking down the 1st and 4th cylinder hole.
Just worried about blocking the oil jets in the head.
thanks again everybody

That looks normal to me.
Yamabond/Hondabond/Suzukibond are non-setting so it will break up and get caught by filter if any does fall off and get through pick up into pump

i think it looks alright, always use any sealant carefully and a little more sparingly around any oil feed holes, ive been naughty before and even omitted the base gasket on a 550 and only used silicon, not advised, dont do it,i only wanted to bench run this engine and its been in my bike now for a year.

That's fine mate, good job. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
