are carb boots different for different cylinders
« on: March 10, 2012, 03:25:32 pm »
Hello
I have a CB750 1972 just about to put the carbs back on using new boots from carb to cylinder head.
The 4 boots supplied are all stamped #2 on one side #3 on the other.
I was not sent any #1 and #4 boots.
Question is are the boots for #1 and #4 cylinder different than the boots for #2 and #3 cylinder
At the moment it seems that the boots wont line up with the carbs or am I just being soft and need to try harder

Thanks
Scott

Yes, Number one cylinder uses the boot with the #1 facing up, number four uses the same one, but with #4 facing up. The boots for two and three work the same way.

Scott..........
I have a 73,
The 2/3 boots are at a different angle
You cant flip them over to make them fit the 1/4 because the opening
is smaller on the other end. I dont think Rotating them will help either
16212-300-030 = 2/3
16211-300-030 = 1/4

thanks heaps mate
At least I know why I'm finding it hard to get the carbies back on.
But now I will have to order 4 boots to suit #1 and #4 cylinders to make up 2 full sets.
One set for this bike and then I will have to buy another bike so the other set doesn't go to waste

I like your logic.
