Storing on concrete may be worse than cold. You should put a scrap of plywood or 2x4's under it.
Jeez, has THAT old myth endured.
Modern battery's (since the 60's) are encased in non-porous insulating material from the factory. Adding another insulating material like wood, is superfluous.
Also, cold does not physically harm a battery so long as the electrolyte doesn't freeze and expand. In fact, cold makes it last longer as chemical activity reduces with the temperature. Storing it cold is better for it than storing it hot.
Perhaps there is some confusion, as what reduces the chemical activity, also reduces capacity/voltage while cold.
Think about it. The battery is filled acid and metal plates. Hot acid is more active/agressive than cold acid. Which do you think is better for plate longevity?
Cheers,
