chrome clear coatings??
« on: March 14, 2012, 04:12:42 AM »
The fenders on my 400f had little rusty pin holes in the Chrome. Well now there cleaned up fairly well and i want to slow down any further rusting. Buying new fenders or rechroming are now in the budget.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a clearcoat in a can?
Is it worth doing?

Brands, tips and pics?

I had an S1 Kawa with badly pitted forks around the seal area. I treated the rust then put some fibreglass resin in the pits and sanded smooth. They didn't leak or rust any more while I had the bike.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

A clear coat really needs either a chemical or mechanical bond to be able to stick to a surface.  It can't get either of those on shiny chrome.  I'd suggest a good coat of wax.
