Great video of '74 CB750 tearing up Route 12, Idaho
« on: March 15, 2012, 04:29:21 PM »
Just happens to be me!

Literally 200 miles of road like that.  Lots of good footage,  its fun to watch the speedo cable start losing its mind after an excessive amount of time at high speeds.  Check it out in HD!

Only had time to see the first 2 minutes, but I will be watching the rest a little later.
Can't wait to get back up in the mountains!

How can you ride without gloves? Madness.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Nice scenery, nice easy sweepers, nice vid........... everyone has there own style of riding , I would not have changed gear once on that road, up or down,to do a steady 60 + - 5 mph  ::)... IMHO.

Nadda - I had the GoPro mounted on 4 or 5 little mounts to get that angle.  At that speed the camera started wobbling.

It is always fun watching people push their luck.  A guy I know who has a wrecker service in Kamiah says business has been very good scraping bikes off the road up on 12 the last couple of summers.

With respect!... push their luck ?.... that road has zero traffic and zero T-junctions to it. All those corners are sweepers, could go 80 around them easy if you wanted... have to comment on the riding style tho' ( hey, post a vid. of yourself, you will get comments ! )... why the changing-down to 4th. at every corner ?...... no braking observed and very little/no acceleration seen after the corner, steady 60 and small throttle acc. to 75 max...... whatever floats yer boat  :o

I ride that road at least once a year over Lolo Pass.  You are right, it is not a particularly technical road.  Yet people on bikes are badly injured or killed with monotonous regularity on it.  It follows a river along much of it, with blind curves as the rule.  There is a lot of wildlife.  There are a lot of tourists doing unpredictable things in their goddam RVs.  There's a lot of heavy truck traffic, log trucks in particular.  And there are dumb asses on motorcycles, one of whom nearly took my wife and I out head-on on our GS two years ago when he blew a corner.

You are a long way from any medical facilities in that area.  A lot of motorcyclists or their insurance companies have paid for helicopters rides out of there to the hospital.  If someone wants to play ricky racer and take a blind corner at 80 or 90 out in the middle of nowhere (on an old CB with squeaky brakes, no less), that is their business I guess.  One thing though.  The cops are getting tired of collecting dead bodies off of 12, 21, on other roads.  By the middle of summer, they start getting really anal about speed enforcement after they've had to respond to a few crashes.  I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have the extra attention. ;)

Yeah, no real need to downshift unless your RPMs plummet.

A lot of the shifting at the beginning was just because...I like rev matching and shifting ^ _ ^

But more seriously - just a weird habit, I suppose.  I think I was getting a little anxious to open it up.

On a side note - I also had about 60 pounds of gear on the back ; )

Here's our youtube channel about the trip.

I noticed that too, one big fat bumble to the knuckles, OUCH!

Yes there are lots of roads like that in washington state and all through the PNW.

BTW Nice smooth sounding bike.
