How do you get cush rubbers out? 76 CB750F

In my continuing saga of sprocket realignment, I need to swap out the cush rubbers. The sprocket carrier from the 77F fits in my stock 76F hub, but is loose and I think it's because I need to use the rubber from the 77F as well. The ones in my hub now have tabs on the bottom that stick into the hub. How do you get them out without tearing the rubber?

I would try some lube and a good heat gun to hopefully soften and make the rubber more pliable. Still risky on that old stuff though.

Just did this on a 73 750. Pulled the brake plate off with the drum side facing up. Sprayed the rubber tits with deep creep and wd-40. Used a couple VERY small flat bladed screwdrivers and worked the little tits thru the hole. Tedious but managed to save and reuse all of them.

 small screwdriver and soapy water..

 OR just put a few wraps or just one of Masking tape around the part of the carrier that contacts the rubbers...

I flipped it over as well and used a brass drift and a mallet to pop them out from the brake side.  Worked without damaging them.

Haha, couldn't help myself. Like everyone else said some lube from behind and poke them through with a thin screwdriver. Small Phillips head would be my choice.
