Proper Sticker Placement
« on: March 16, 2012, 07:42:58 AM »
I'm putting the finishing touches on my bike Paddy, and I haven't been able to determine where to place the following decals.

Per the owner's manual, it looks like there is a decal by the grab bar on the rear fender.  Is it the top decal?

Where is the lower decal regarding engine oil placed?  The owner's manual shows a black strip on the top of the oil tank to the right of the dipstick, but I can't tell if it's a decal due to lack of image clarity.  Is that where it is placed?

Thanks!

The oil sticker can also be on the top of the oil tank nex to the dipstick in later models.

Thanks fellas.  I'm afraid it's moot.  I just took Paddy for his first five-mile breaking spin, and . . . EPIC FAIL!

At first I thought the head gasket was leaking.  Nope, I had NO OIL going to the top end.  Can't believe it.  Six months' work and I'm back to tearing the motor down.  Anyone got a beer handy?  Maybe 12?

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

The top decal does go on the rear fender near the grab bar.

CRAP !! Did something seize or break or made noises that are not good? Did you by chance feel or see if the oil in the tank had got hot. Here's hoping for the best Bro-- HUG  ;)-- sH#T

Old school, I agree.  Makers is more appropriate.

Dimitri, thanks. It's now properly applied.

Ekpent, thanks for the bro hug - I needed it!  I didn't hear anything break or seize, but it did stall on my once in my neighborhood after rolling off the throttle suddenly. Started back up with a clutch drop while coasting, though.  I didn't feel the oil tank - just roasted marshmallows over the smoke coming out of the open valve cap on #4 exhaust after I confirmed the top end was running dry.

I had it running briefly yesterday and was surprised to burn my hand after inadvertently touching the exhaust.  Should have questioned why it was so hot after such a short time running.  Friction bad.
