I finally got enough courage to take the carbs out. It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. Removing the airbox was probably the hardest, because it's such a tight fit. After that, I detached the throttle and choke cables, loosened up the clamps, and pulled the carbs right out.
As predicted, my slow jets were plugged. I took them out, and used a copper wire plus compressed air to clean then out. Cleaned whatever else I could, put everything back together, and she idles great now, and the throttle response is perfect too (I took apart the accelerator pump and cleaned it too, for a good measure)
I'm really glad that I did this instead of taking it to a dealer, it was a great learning experience.
One thing though - now when I pull the choke out, the RPMs barely rise, to about 2,000 on 1/2 choke, and when on full choke, the revs drop to 1,000, and the bike is ready to die... Any ideas?
