Today I was able to rebuild the wire harness and test test and clean up the charging system, nothing too exciting.  I rebuilt the gauges and added some led's for illumination and made up some brackets out of aluminum to hang the rear brembo master cylinder.  This added to the braking performance new Nissin front master and reservoir should be an improvement.

I also was able to hit my engine covers with the polishing wheel a second time.

Here are some "teazer pics from Larry (nvr2old), still needs to be polished but you can get the idea.

I initially wanted a completely stock paint job for this resto-mod but wanted it to be unique since it wasn't going to be a complete stocker.  IWe came to the conclusion to do a stock Honda paint color (CBX) with a slight variation of the stock CBX layout.  After seeing another members cbx paint in person, ;) I knew this was the color combo.

I think it looks amazing and still holds on to the vintage stock feel.
Thanks Larry.... ;D

Nice work. I wish my projects moved along this fast. Even when i get them going and throw money at it something seems to always go wrong and set me back. You move along so smooth. I will watch and learn.

I'll get the parts all polished over the weekend, and get some shots out in the sun.  This baby is gonna sparkle, for sure.   ;)   I'm also blown away by how quickly you finish a project.  An amazing amount of attention to detail that all comes together so beautifully as a final product.  Can't wait to see it together.

I really don't finish them too fast...  The total 915 build took 2 years from start to finish.  This build will be much quicker since I know a bit more this time around.  Also, this one will not have the level of detail that the other has. I plan for this to be a clean build, but more of an everyday rider.

FFJ, I too run into many walls when I do a build, but I only do one at a time and spend almost as much time in the planning process as I do building.  I usually fill a notebook with notes, to do check list, and to order parts lists.  This helps me stay focused and check things off as I go.  I guess I have a bit of OCD, ha ha.

Thanks for tuning in.

Well that makes me feel a little better. By the time i finish my 550 cafe it will have been a little over 2 years and i will have built or restored 3 different bikes at the same time.

That paint by Larry (nvr2old) turned out great as expected.  Not much else to update except I picked up the powdercoat last week.  Now time to start the rebuild.

Took the day off to put some time in on the 1978f, now I have a roller.

dual piston calipers all rebuilt.

Here is the roller

This is a big step for motivation, Larry's fresh paint sitting on the bench also helps... ;)

'bout time you got this thread updated.. ;D  Looks really good, tweakin.  I really like the subtle updates, especially the suspension and brakes.  What brand of tires are those?  I'm also happy to see you're using the Comstars.  They just look right on there.  Can't wait to see it all back together again.

Looks good Tige. I see some wiring in your future.... How's the harness on this one?

Thanks Larry, the other bike has been getting most of my wrench time.  The tires are Avons, I run them on both my bikes and could not be happier.  I love the old bikes but suspension upgrades are a must IMO, the front is also hiding progressive springs and race tech emulators.

I put the tail section you painted for me on the work bench and is serves as great motivation to build.
