Dammit tweakin, I only just found the thread. Been away from the board for too long.

Yours is still one of my all time favourite builds and I couldn't be more excited to see the finished product of this resto-mod. As you know, I'm a resto guy. Can't wait to see that CBX paint job on there Looks awesome on that long 'F' tank.

Finished up the brakes last night. I added a nissin adjustable front to push the dial piston brakes.

I also got rid of the leaky rear master and upgraded to a new brembo unit with pressure unit for the brake light.

Today, I hope to get the oil pump rebuilt and button up all other loose ends so I can get started on the electrical tomorrow.

Jerry- I have learned a ton from this site and trial and error. This is my third cb and before that I built many Harley's which has also helped. This time I was able to order most of the needed parts before I even had possession of the bike. Next will probably be to ride and possibly a modern street bike in the near future, if I can talk the wife into it. But you don't have that problem...

I love long weekends...

I was able to do some more work on the 78f

engine is all buttoned up and the carbs are on with the exception of the clutch cover. I did;t realize it was cracked so I am prepping another.

the gauges are rebuilt, waiting to put the instrument cluster on.

got the Corbin seat on, man this thing is like a couch compared to my 77's cafe seat. Also mounted up my exhaust and ignition.

I think this bike is going to be a great, comfy, rider that should be a blast and still look close to stock.

Getting close. Finishing up the wiring and then need to time, adjust valves, bleed brakes then complete. I couldn't resist putting the tail and tank on to get an idea of how it will look. Wish I would have rolled it outside so you can see how the paint pops in the sun.

I think the overall look will pay tribute to the stock F3 with some minor tweaks. LED taillight with integrated turns is tucked up under the rear cowl, upgraded brakes and suspension.

I hope to do some shake down rides in the next couple weeks.

Looks great! That bottom stripe on the tank and cowl sure make up for the lack of trim. You're gonna have the nicest pair of F's anywhere.

Got my rear brake bled. Waiting for oil pressure to put the plugs in and fire mine. Close too!

That looks awesome Tweakin, the only thing i would change is the stock rear tail light, i would fit something into that rear cowling, i like where the stock cowling stops at the back of the rear tire, with the stock tail light it makes the back look too long, IMO of course

Love the paint and seat....

Retro, I agree about the stock taillight that is why it is gone on this bike, although I think it looks great on a stocker..

I added a LED stop, brake turn, tucked up in the cowl of the seat. It is set know but I think I will fab up an aluminum bracket to move it back a bit.

I know there has been some banter about the Corbin not fitting well, but I think it fits great. Just takes a bit to align it properly.
I also picked up a polished aluminum front fender for it, should look good.

looking good tweak!

if you have the stock rear plastic fender that hangs down below the license plate you might try sticking it on there to see how it looks. My F came without it, and i didnt think i wanted one anyway, but i bought one just to have in case. After i put it on i thought it made the back of the bike look much better. Its your bike so ultimately its up to you, but it might be worth a look anyway. It might not look as good without the stock tail light anyway though. Sweet bike nonetheless!

Starting to look like a real bike again, tweakin. I agree about maybe moving the tail light and plate back a bit in the cowl. That's an awful lot of open space there. From a 3/4 rear shot it looks like nothing's there. The stock rear fender (shortened possibly..?) might even look good in there, too. Whatever you decide, I'm confident the bike is gonna be killer..'cause it already is..

Yes, Moving the taillight back about three inches is in the works but negative on the fender.... not for me.

This was just an initial mock up of the rear end.

Moved the taillight set up back a bit. Really happy with the led, has integrated turn signals and pulsing stop. Made up a bracket out of aluminum to move the taillight / license plate back about two inches, fills up the rear cowl nicely now.

Finished up the gauges added led's to the indicator lights and led strip inside the gauges. Picked up some billet mirrors to complete the front end.

My battery showed up tonight. all I have left is to wire the front end bleed the brakes and fire it up...
