Got my Gordon Frame kit in place today. Just need to buy some Whiskey as payment for my buddy's time to weld it hopefully next week. I know I said I was not going to hack the frame but I had to cut off the passenger peg mounts. This will be a single rider and I don't need them.

Subscribed, and I like the stock 750 silver with the blue stripe.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out.
Take care,
David

haha! I won't be moving nearly as fast as tweak. This build should be called slow and steady. I am hoping to have it done by next summer. We will see.

"La Flama Blanca" is coming together very nice.  ;D

The silver/blue Japanese paint is a great choice and rarely seen! If you need any help with the color, shoot me a PM.

Subscribed. Nice stuff. Always liked "SilverBlue'. Linda Ronstadt song of same name.

What engine size?

When comes time to put the studs back in the head be sure to follow protocol to avoid leak. Many threads and we can review.

I have been debating on engine size. I guess 836. I have also contemplated maybe 2nd over with a kit from Z1. Still thinking about things.

I have a new to me lower mileage transmission and crank in the mail. The tranny I had is no good and I screwed up my crank trying to remove the staked gallery balls in the counterweights. My plan for the lower end is to replace all the roller bearings and have APE balance and micropolish the crank. No lightening. I am also replacing the primary chains, tensioner, and cam chain. I will also plastiguage all the clamshell bearings to make sure they are within spec.

Good approach on the crank. While i have a lightened one, I think lightening is over rated on a street bike. You'll have a smoother ride with some weight.

B & G Machine in Georgetown is outstanding if you just need the crank polished and balanced. (Or if you need to rebuild an inline-12 cruise-ship engine for that matter.)

Hey EtienneZA, the frame kit is maybe by one of the members here and it allows you to work on the head without taking the whole engine out of the frame.  Pretty handy.

So I have decided to start back on this project. TAO has finally been dubbed roadworthy. She is back on the road and purring like a kitten once again.

I decided to paint the cases with some VHT silver. I got those shot and cured this weekend and started to get organised for the bottom end build up. I have ordered all brand new roller bearings from Yamiya. Only $150 shipped, that includes the three bearings that are grooved. My local bearing house wanted over $150 for all the bearings and that didn't include the grooved ones...go figure. I just need to get the two needle bearings that ride in the primary chain sprocket now.

So this bottom end is already shaping up to be an expensive little item. I am replacing all the normal wearables...

Primary Chains
Primary Tensioner
Roller bearings
Needle bearings
Clamshell bearings
Cam chain
O-rings and Seals
HD lower main studs
new case bolts

I was lucky and have a low mileage transmission and I also scored a F3 crank and rods with only 7500 miles on it. So my bottom end is going to be rock solid. I have decided against backcutting the gears and crank work and the plan is to button this up the first or second week of February.
