I have that same float adjuster tool. its great for those carbs. how's the bike? haven't seen an update in a good bit now.
I think the bike is done and pics don't do it justice.  I think its ready for the BOTM nod... ;)

I also ordered this sweet float gauge off ebay. Got this from the same guy I got my SS brake pistons from. Great service and products and even came with instructions. This tool makes adjusting the floats so much easier!

So I have been riding into work the last few days and finally got her out for a freeway run. I am so pleased with how it runs. I have got most of the bugs worked out. I do have a slight fuel leak from the carb bowl overflow lines. After shutdown and the petcock is off I get a few drips. Nothing more than a couple drops out of each tube. Any ideas?

I have new OEM float valves and seats and adjusted the floats to spec.

If that internal float valve spring provides more or less tension than what was standard back in the 70's, you'll struggle with fuel shutoff.  I'd revisit your float heights..clear tube method first to verify levels.
+/- .5mm float height can make that drip disappear.

Hows the ride going, I only found this build thred recently but have read it all and very impressed the finish and the way it all come together. I was wondering if you could tell a bit more about the rear guard,  it looks like it might be cut down original, if so did you cut the mounts off and then remount which sounds simple but would like to know if you had any issues?

Hi Timbo, thanks for reading my thread and checking it out. The rear fender is shortened. I didn't want to just cut the end of it off so I drilled/cut off the mount and cut off the forward portion of the fender a few inches. It was a bit tricky and took some time but I am happy with the result. I just used a few nuts and bolts to fasten them together. A coating of gloss black powdercoat over everything sealed it up. Hope this helps!

Timbo I did basically the same thing with mine. Godffrey's is a bit nicer than mine because he took the time to weld and smooth everything out. I dont have a welder so nuts and bolts were all I did.

If I recall correctly, that set was about 6" on the back & somewhere around 8" in the front.
But I have done several and they were all a bit different, so it's hard to say for sure.

So even though TAO has been a real pain in my ass the K4 has been a real pleasure. I had a little hiccup with it popping out of 4th gear but I installed a backcut race transmission from CycleX and all is well. This bike is so comfortable and I have really grown to love it. I finally found a fender to work with my 18" front wheel and love the way it looks now. It's from a CL450 and is nice and wide to fit my tire perfectly. I had to modify the mounts a bit and had it powdercoated. Here are a few pics of it installed.

Thanks Don! The 18"front and dual discs were a challenge to find a fender but I think it worked out well in the end.
