Glad my new little project got you motivated to dive back into La flama blanca...  You know I will be following.  We need to knock down some IPA's and BS about the builds.

When talking about the Silver/Blue color scheme.... I found this one on the facebook "Honda CB 750 four" page and it's such a beauty ! A little nicer seat and that would be 10/10 in my book !

I know cameras can play tricks but I give up. How does the kickstart and oil tank show up on the left side of the bike in that pic? Smoked a bowl and stood on my head but it still didn't look right.

So today I spent a little time getting ready to close the cases. I got my APE HD main bearing studs installed. I also received the rest of my O-rings, new crank bearings, HD cam chain, and needle bearings. Got all of it installed and then snapped a few new pictures. The only thing I am waiting on now is the chain oiler plug from 754 and some new hardware from Bolt Depot. Once I get those it will just be a matter of finding the time.

that motor is coming along nicely. what does a rebuild like yours cost if you dont mind me asking because those parts sound like good quality. have you used the same parts in your last build?

so far i have APE main studs but thats it.

Hi SF,
rebuilding the motor is not cheap at all. I am using many of the same parts as my other build. Just in the lower end I will have over $500 in new parts

Crank bearings about $110
Roller bearings about $150
Primary Tensioner about $100
Primary Chains about $100
APE main studs $70
HD cam chain $40
misc o-rings and seals about $30 ish I think.

I hate spending money on this stuff but its all necessary for my build because it was high mileage and pretty worn. Many people just put new chains and tensioner in and call it good. The top end is where the big money gets spent just in machining costs alone.

Sweet!

Once my parts get back from Wisconsin (CycleX) I'll be in the same boat! I'm pretty stoked to put it all together.

And you're definitely right about it not being cheap. Wowzer.

A question: Do you use anti-seize or some type of lubricant on any of the bolts before torquing? Do you put thread locker on anything? What about gaskets ... do you put them on dry or with some sealant?

Personally I haven't found one stop shopping. I use Genuine Honda parts when I can. For aftermarket or Hi-Po stuff I get everything from vendors I trust. Cycle-X, APE, Dynoman, Z1 Enterprises, Yamiya, just to name a few.

The Main studs I used some loctite per the directions. For the rest of the case bolts I will use a bit Three bond on the threads per the Hondaman book.

As for gaskets, I am no authority on the subject and its a debated topic with many different opinions. On my F3 high compression motor I have been chasing engine leaks since the rebuild and have found Cometic head, base, and cam cover gaskets coated with Gasgacinch to work for me the best. For the engine covers I used OEM gaskets with no sealant and so far so good.

Dammit, now I'll have to start on my 'other' bike too!

What are you getting from Bolt Depot?

Which roller bearings are you replacing?

Boys, as far as BrandEn's list goes that's just a good starter. Dig deeper or go home   ;D

Yea that is a cheap bottom end rebuild!

From Bolt Depot I ordered new case hardware. The bolts I pulled from this engine are way to corroded. I didn't get Honda flange bolts cuz they want to much for em.

I replaced the two needle bearings in the clutch hub

One more piece to the puzzle got installed today.

The 754 chain oiler plug.
THANKS FRANK! I took some pictures for you.
 ;D

I thought about installing it with some Hi-Temp RTV on the threads but it was such a tight and perfect fit I don't think its really necessary. I just lubed the o-ring with engine oil.
