Love the look of that 3.5.  What size tire will you be going with?

Where'd you get another box section swingarm?

I got it from a forum member here on the site a few months back. It originally came from Carpy.

So I am trying real hard to settle on a paint color. I think I am ditching the tank stripes and going for a solid color. I ordered smooth side covers from Mr. Frankenstuff so no badges on the side covers. If anyone has any suggestions for paint I would appreciate it. I have narrowed it down to silver or blue. My good buddy Tige suggested "World Rally Blue" a Subaru color found on WRX's. I am digging it. Thoughts?

I got my badges blasted. Gotta wait for better weather to paint them up.

Well that looks easier than replicating Candy Sapphire Blue. Toyota uses one too, may be a deeper blue? Will the lettering edges of the badges polish out?

Yes I have sanded the edges of the badge lettering. I figure I will shoot the badges with SEM black trim paint and sand off the black on the edges and then hand paint the white lettering with model paint.

What vehicle is Candy Sapphire Blue from? What model Toyota cars can I search to see the blue your talking about?

Candy Sapphire Blue is OF COURSE from the ultra rare 75 CB750F! What else LOL. Can't give you an exact Toyota model. I've seen quite a few. I'd thought about the Toyota and the Subaru colors as a close replacement.

I love subaru blue. I always wanted a WRX but couldnt afford one. I could however afford the paint so i just painted my 4 runner the same color.

What about Suburu Blue Pearl like what they are using on the new BRZ?

Maybe get it in a metallic variant?

Hey J got a pic of your 4 runner? I love those WRX's too. I would love to have one. Never driven one but I bet they are a blast.

mS- I really like that blue. In the pictures it doesn't look much different than the WRX world rally blue I posted. I bet its pretty close.

Step 2 of my badge restore.
If you have never used this paint do yourself a favor and get some. The best rattle can paint out there for stuff like this. No primer needed as its self etching. Durable and goes on perfect.

Step 3
Might just leave them like this

Got some of this at Harbor Freight. Works great for tank cleaning. Got my tank cleaned, blasted and a quick primer job. Getting ready for paint ASAP.

Got my oil lines made up. Slowly but surely one part at a time this build will get completed. I am aiming for one year. Memorial Day 2014 is my must be completed by date. Gives me plenty of time. $$$ is the issue!

Looking good!   How did you reveal the raised letter outlines on the badges?

Thanks mono, I just carefully used some 400 sandpaper installed on a sanding block. Was actually very easy.

Yeah, that's it.  Quite a coincidence, I have a spare tank and Franken smooth side covers at the paint shop now for blue metallic paint too! I picked the color at the auto paint store using an old Sapphire Blue side cover ('76 550F that I had).
They will be replacing the original Boss Maroon tank and covers I have currently on my K4. (See avatar)

I love your attention to detail very inspiring!

How much Evaporust do you need per tank? I need to buy some as well...

Have you made up your brake lines yet? Guessing you are going for stainless - is so where are you sourcing them from?

thanks
Andy

Hi Andy thanks. I love your bikes as well. I only bought one gallon and just rotated the tank every hour or so. I bought a rubber plug for the petcock and filler and it never leaked. Stuff works great and no flash rusting even after I rinsed it out with the hose. I did put a bottle of 2 cycle oil in the tank though just to be safe. Not gonna see any gas for a while. I have been planning on getting my brake lines from member Pampadori. Great service from him.
