CB750 K0-K2 fork lowers with F3 fork tubes and dampers?
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:47:46 PM »
I am rebuilding my K4 forks. The fork tubes are not usable but the lowers are just fine. I have a complete set of forks from my 78 F3 rebuild. Has anyone installed the early K model fork lowers with the late model F2-F3 fork tubes and fork internals? The tube and dampers are quite a bit different.

So I was just looking at my Hondaman book and discovered my forks are K2 or earlier forks. They have the early style dampers... So can I run F3 tubes and internals with the K2 K1 K0 fork lowers?

I have these type forks CB750

These are the 1978 CB750 F3 forks. I want to put the fork tubes and fork internals in the K2 lowers. Yay or nay?

G'Day Branden, sorry mate, when you PM'd me I took it that you were using K4 lowers. Nope, you can't use F2/F3 tubes in K0-K2 forks, unless you can somehow manage to machine the lower portion of each tube to accept the external bush that was common on the K0-K2.

Just buy some K3-K6 sliders (or better still, F0-F1 or K7/K8 sliders, they're taller and you can install a fork brace) and use your F2/F3 tubes. Don't forget you'll need a K3 or later caliper mount and fender to go with the later model forks. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
