Murphy's Law
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:06:36 AM »
Finally nearing the end of the build. Weather in the NYC area approaching 70. Proceed to garage to adjust timing and install new pods. Rotate crank and I hear this metal on metal scraping sound coming from "the engine". Oil pump, pumping. Oil to the head, yes. You know what that means right? Im !@#$ pissed off.

I just had the same thing with my CB750 K2. Finished my rebuild and noticed gearbox rattle when tilting my bike to the right. This was on the very first start.
Pulled it apart again and found that one bearing on the "clutch" shaft was not pressed all the way in to its seat. This misaligned the shaft and caused gear dogs to drag each other.
A real pain to do everything all over again..  :P
