Sparx brand rectifier/regulator
« on: March 17, 2012, 11:26:47 PM »
Okay, I have been to this site about a hundred times to fix my bike.  The faqs have saved me from a lot of headaches, and I figured I should join.  Thanks for all the past help.  Anyone ever put a Sparx rectifier/regulator on a 1975 CB 550K?  The sparx comes with red, black and three yellow, and no instructions.

I did a google search for sparx rectifier/regulator, and all I found were ones for a permanent magnet alternator.  They don't work for the SOHC4's electromagnet alternator.

Green is for the neutral safety switch, the white is the one that is giving me fits.  They were designed for triumphs and other brit nitemares but I have seen them on cb550s.  I guess I might just leave it as it is and take the sparx to the next bike swap meet.  Beware.  Thanks.

If it has 3x yellow a red and a black, then it's just a rectifier, no regulator inside  ;)
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

It could have a shunt regulator inside and be useful on permanent mag alternators.  But, it's not going to work on a CB550, without devine intervention.

Honda color code is green for frame or battery Neg connection.  Now, green with stripes on them are for a different purpose.  LG/R is for Neutral switch, for example.
