Summary of bike issues. Thoughts welcome
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:24:28 PM »
Just a few things from this weekend.  I'll be taking a break until I get my plumbing fixed but I did sneak in some time today with them.

CB650C:  My tank liner failed, more on that later.  I have a funnel and tube on it for now.  Will start right up, all pipes hot.  I witnessed all the accelerator pump nozzles squirting.  The bike bogs sometimes when the throttle is opened, both at idle and riding.  I did get it down the road and back though.  Stock pipes and jetting on it.

550K:  I was concerned that I had air leaks in the intake path.  I took the carbs off and felt good suction on my hand as compared to my 350 at each intake.  I put the carbs back on and covered the carb throat and ended up with gas on my hand.  Definitely good suction so I don't think it's air leaks.  The bike will backfire through the carbs every once in a while (all carbs, not just one).  Cam timing is dead on and ignition timing is dead on.  Compression was all around 140.  There is a chance a 550F cam is in it but the part number shows the same.  Is it possible the wide open exhaust is going to necessitate adjustment of the timing from stock?  It was reading low vacuum but I didn't recheck that yet.

I know that's hopelessly not enough info but I got to get cracking on this plumbing...
