A diamond in the rough.
« on: November 23, 2006, 07:15:16 pm »
I picked up this bike yesterday for a song and a dance.  The pipes, engine, and fenders have flawless chrome (except the oil and dirt).  It came with a bike cover, service manual, tool kit, engine gaskets, and a new air filter.  I plan to make a cafe racer after I am done with my current project.  The guy that sold it to me must have just wanted to get rid of it because I should have paid a lot more for it.

Here is the bike:

Here are the goodies:

Does anyone know if that is a complete tool kit?  Also, the gaskets that came with it are to do the engine.  How big of a project is that going to be?  With carbs I know you have to have a manometer to sink them, is there any special tool or piece of equipment I will need for the engine.  I don't want to get half way through it only to find out that I need some billion dollar tool to continue.  Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, cleveland

Duct tape?  That's a joke, right?

Somewhere over the Single over head cam to the beat of ...over the rainbow. LOL

All kidding aside, $50.  Unless I find a bike that has been sitting in someones garage since the 70's I doubt I will ever come across a sweeter deal.

A good 6 sided socket set, impact driver and hammer are your main tools for pull down, add a torque wrench and your good to go for most things
