Thailand Spokes - Front Wheel Lacing - Cb550 Build
« on: March 25, 2012, 11:50:13 AM »
I've been a lurker on this site for some time, lots of great info, I can usually find everything I need.

I've seen it mentioned that the Thailand ebay spokes can run a little long when lacing the front wheel.

I laced the rear when up fine but the front spokes are going to be close to a half inch long!!! I'm assuming I much have laced the wheel incorrectly but it looks right to me, I have a spare front wheel and it appears to match up with the wheel I laced.

Anyone have experience with the cheapo thailand spokes?

After looking through some more threads I'm going to assume I've got the front wheel laced wrong somehow.

I just used them. As long as they are "all" that long you did it right and can just zip off the excess after you true them. If some are flush and others are long you need to check your pattern.

Yes, your lacing pattern is wrong. The spokes must be at a shallower angle.

Here's my wheel before lacing in a new rim:

Thanks, They are all uniformly long but I have laced the wheel wrong. Good to know that they will still be long when I lace it correctly.
