ok,,your 1 to 1.1 measure less the leads .5 gives you .5-.6,your stator should be ok,test the field coil again using just its two wires,,not an engine or frame earth,,if thats what you meant by "between ground and white",,if the earth your talking about was the green wire to the field unplugged from the connections your field is ok.
