Progress pics.........
« on: June 02, 2006, 10:49:55 AM »
Finally got around to taking some pics of the beast with the new rims and rubber. I think the alloy D.I.D.s look much better.

Bigger pics are in my gallery. Took them on Hi Res and cant shrink them enough to attach.

Silly question - where does one get these fancy alloy rims and the requisite spokes to lace to standard hubs?  I'd like to replace my 550's stock rims and spokes.

KC, If someone had never seen the "before" pictures, they would have no idea just how
far you've come with this bike and with a $200 beginning! You've outdone yourself. The wheels
really set it off.                                      Later on, Bill

Yeah, what he said.  Bike looks awsome.  I love the flat lip on the wheels.  NICE....

Thanks guys. Now if I could get around to getting a seat cover made.

These wheels were off of a 76 Hondamatic with 9k. I hear the Goldwings also had them.

Yeah - that's the best source, but also rare to find rims from (the 750A).  Looks like new rims are $130 each and spokes another $50 or so, making it an expensive change to be sure.

It's looking good KC, but like Tealy says, better without the fairing.

You know KC, I thought the fairing would good painted and with a painted front fender.
Now that I look at it again, I can see why you did what you did. Your bike looks great!! The
front fender, and the lack of a fairing, just sets the whole thing off. I'm not going to be one of
those who talks about your choice of paint either. While it's not what I would have chosen, I
do like it. It stands out but, in a good way. I guess I was trying so hard to find a way to make it
(the fairing) work that I couldn't see that it didn't belong on this bike. Enjoy your creation KC,
you done good!!!                              Later on, Bill
