My buddy bought some cams from a junk yard for his bike. One of the cam sprockets is cracked.
The guy refunded his money (well half) and told him he could weld it and run as is.
Does that sound right to you? I am not sure I would want a welded up cam sprocket spinning at 8000+ revs.
What do you guys think?

We would need to see the crack and its location.
It could be TIG welded if done properly.
You CANNOT weld it with a 110V wire feed!!
Also the cam only turns 1/2 the speed of the crankshaft.
It would need to be checked for flatness and checked for non visable cracks.
If it is cracked between teeth all the way to the outside edge I would not weld it.
They are easy to get and it is probably not worth it in the long run.
