Those headers are a funky colour. Is that normal for those pipes?

They look like after market headers and probably single wall pipes so it's not uncommon to see that.  The stock headers are double wall and less likely to do that unless the bike runs lean.

It only had to run lean a short while..but people will tell you for the rest of the pipe ..that you are burning up or running lean..
I used to tell people..Yeah, it ran lean 12 years ago..

What do they think?.. the color will go back!........................................ Got the pipes on my Beemer red hot..you could see them glowing in the dark...

The pipes are single wall aftermarket pipes. In my experience its hard to keep them from not turning colors, but my experience was with Harleys.

The carbs on this thing were a HOT MESS. All 4 slides were stuck as were all 4 floats. The bowls were downright nasty with varnished fuel and most of the jets were also clogged up. I wasn't sure how well everything would clean up but with an overnight soak in Chem Dip and lots of scrubbing they did. I have a set of indexing bits that I used for nitrous jets that I ran through all the jets and I guess I got lucky. The tank was full of old fuel, but very clean so I just removed the pitcock and cleaned everything out, put some gas in her, reassembled the carbs, put it all back together and pulled the choke and she fired right off. I was pretty happy to say the least.

Thanks again for all the advice and help.

BTW, I paid the man last night and got the title to it !!!

One question, I would like to remove the rack on the back but that is where the turn signals are mounted . Where did they mount to from the factory?

2 tabs facing down off the rear grab bar, near the long mounting bolt holes.. if you have the grab bar.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
