Hi all, My name is Rich Halsey and I am new to the site and new to these classic bikes. I stumbled across this site searching for info on a bike that I found.

Now on to what I found. A good friend of my father has decided to part ways with his 1972 CB750.
He is the original owner and the bike has been stored in a climate controlled environment its entire life.
The bike is bone factory stock and 100% original except for the exhaust that was put on when the bike was brand new.
It has 12,400 miles on it.
I took a couple pics but it is so dusty and dirty you cant get an idea of how good of condition this thing is in.

It even comes with the helmets that were purchased with the bike.

Any idea on value

How much is he asking for it?

Does it run.................the value would be what people are willing to give.

Lots of questions have to be considered as to the value.

Wow, love that helmet too.

Does it run? When was it last ridden? Motor turn over?

It "ran like new" when he parked it last time...1994

I would assume the carbs would need to be cleaned good and a service would be in order but this thing was his baby and he took good care of it before he got to old to do so.

Would check to see if it turns over like kck3 said...easiest way is to try to kick start it. Got to keep in mind u'll probably need new tires and she might have oil leaks from sitting. Seals and gaskets shrink and start leaking after sitting without being ran.

looks like Jardine exhausts.
been looking at 750's up here in the PNW for a while now.
titled/non runner, up to $1500. titled and running....$1000-$3000
as nicely original/patina'd as it is...id expect to pay +/- $2500

new battery/plugs
fresh gas
carbs cleaned
oil change
...press the fun button

Might want to consider a new helmet as well. The original may be cool, but it is old. $:-\$

Thanks for the replies.
The bike does spin over and actually the only rust I found was a tiny bit on the handle bars.
The rest is just dust and dirt.

I think I can get it for $1,000 with the helmets

Expect to do $1000 worth of parts in the first 6 months of riding. Looks like a really nice survivor original but even they need new rubber bits, chains, tires, filters, oil, points, battery etc... It would be worth around $2200 running and riding with some work done so you are still good at $1000. If you "cafe" it, I will personally hunt you down and slap some sense into you. :-)

Buy it. It's worth $1000 easily, especially if he still has the title. If it has been stored inside, you will be surprised how nice it will clean up.

Change the oil/filter and do a 3000 mile tune-up before you start it. Buy it.

You might get lucky. I was given a 750 that hadn't been run in 20 years and was in my uncle's unheated barn. I replaced the carbs and tank (too far gone) and put in a battery and the next weekend left from MD for NC on a camping trip (1500 miles). Bike never missed a beat, seals were fine (except the fork seals leaked). I had maybe $600 in that bike and rode it for a couple years before I sold it. Near as I know the new owner hasn't had trouble either. At 1000 you definitely can't go wrong

Be careful about bikes that have sat for a long time without being run, they can be worse than a bike with high mileage that has been.

I doubt, you will have to spend anywhere near a grand working on it.. maybe over the next six years... and 40,000 miles..

Nice find! Might want to factor in some new tires, cleaning out the carbs, or possibly having the gas tank cleaned out and lined.

I see the petcock is in the "fuel off" position which is a great thing. Now it he also drained the carbs when he put it away you should be in pretty good shape. Pop off a float bowl on the bottom of the carb. If it was drained it will be pretty clean.
