Mine won't run when it's apart.

1977 cb550k. I forgot to replace the clutch gasket which is leaking like a sieve, and it now appears I need a new float bowl gasket as well on carb # 1. The clutch is the bummer because I have to drain all of the oil I just put in and then take off half the parts to remove the cover. Kinda like when I put on the back wheel and forgot to slide the brake arm thingy in first which required me not only take the wheel off, but the swing arm too. Oh well, I get better with each bike. Ten more and I'll have it down pat.

Don't be too hard on yourself.
Malcolm Gladwell was right - it takes like 10,000 hours to become a true expert at anything.  The fact that you can even DO any of this is an increasingly rare skill in our hands-off world.  So feel good about that.

(this is the sort of thing I tell myself after royally screwing up some part or process, or stabbing myself with a screwdriver, or hammering my finger instead of the punch I shouldn't be holding because I should have gotten the punch-holding tool, etc).
