swingarm bushing removal question

I've got a load of play in my swingarm so I decided to relplace the bushings. When taking the swingarm apart I found metal bushing already in there. I've read about using a hacksaw but was wondering if in this case a pilot bearing remover might be a better tool for the job?

Yeah mate, use whatever you have available, keeping in mind that the bearing was pressed in originally, and will have rusted in place. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news Dave, but I've never met a 40 year old swingarm bush that came out without a fight. By contrast, wheel nearings and steering head bearings are a snap to R&R compared to swingarm bushes, probably because the swingarm bushes have 3-4 times the surface area. Have fun! ;D

OK, I went to the local auto parts store and rented a blind hole puller. Olb bushings were out in about 5 minutes :)

Harbor Freight scored me a cheapy puller for my wheel bearings when I got the one set powder coated. I think less than $50US.

It was a slide hammer type with expandable collets. The collets scewed onto the end of the slida hammer Much less scary than using a hachsaw on my swingarm. Would work great with many bearings.
