1982 Nighthawk 750 SC Cafe Conversion
« on: March 25, 2012, 04:30:31 pm »
So after years of pining for one I have finally decided to build one. A cafe that is. I left it to chance as to what platform I would use and the nighthawk pretty much showed up at my door, new treads and all. The bike is mechanically sound as well, so I wont be doing anything mechanical , @ this point anyway.  What I will be doing...

Mechanically:
- relay mod
- main fuse mod
- fork rebuild with progressive springs (just scored a set for $45Make that $35 NIB) (In progress)
- rebuild brake calipers and master cylinder (in Progress)
- New SS brake lines

Aesthetics:
- 1974 CB750 tank (modding the tunnel and possible stretch of 2"-4")
- 2-up cafe style seat with rear seat cover (My kid and wife want to go along for the ride occasionally)
- black out the wheels
- paint engine (leaving chrome pieces as they are)
- clean up exhaust (maybe paint)
- Hugger type rear fender (custom not purchased)
- LED's (signals and tail Light)
- I have other ideas but will see a things progress)

Of course paint. However I am not sure as to exactly what. I am kind of partial to the old CB metal flake orange. I will  be having the paint done by Mark Boyer of Boyer Graphic design once I settle on what I want.

Not much has happened so far this week on the bike. Seems all my 4 wheeled vehicles have needed my attention. Still waiting on my progressive springs and I have a few parts to pick up at the local Honda dealer. I have however decided to polish my fork lowers instead of paint. I have just gotten started but they are already starting to look good.

Spent some quality time with my fork bottoms this afternoon. Still have to get the tight spots but pretty happy so far.

Done for now. Still have a few things I want to do but I'm just going to enjoy riding it for now.

Really nice looking bike.  Love the clean lines, and the color!
